Firehouse Worcester is a D.I.Y. creative space for performing and visual art in Worcester, MA. For over 15 years, the Firehouse has acted as a community center providing accessible art, music, and educational events. The Firehouse has hosted concerts, puppetry, poetry, and visual installations by local and global artists. These community events are offered for free or for optional donation that directly supports performers.

In 2025, we organized over 68 musical events, 7 educational programs, 4 art exhibitions, as well as other events like plays, poetry readings, and screenings. In total, we have provided space for over 1000 individuals to perform or share work this year. As well as providing a space to cook free community meals bi-weekly.

All this is put together through volunteers who devote their time to creating community and space for personal expression and cultivation of art.

Since the Firehouse does not take in any money from shows, the volunteers who keep it running cover the costs of bills, taxes, mortgage payments, and maintenance. That's a lot for a 125 year old building!

We put in a lot of maintenance work by hand, but there are some projects we can't DIY. This year we had to replace and repair several components of the heating system. There are many more projects to tackle once we save enough money, such as fixing another furnace and improving the insulation in certain rooms.
